Valentino Fall 2011 Couture

Que the whimsical sheer, cut out velvet and woven crystals, the Valentino Fall 2011 Couture collection is a fine fairytale affair with a twist of gothic darkness. Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli created a collection that flows flawlessly between the different genres with a romantic elegance. With both casual day looks in the tweed suits, and glamorous evening wear with the silk and floral embellished gowns, this collection spans the spectrum in a complete way, leaving no look as a loose end.

The patterned dresses seem to float on the models, with no distinction of where the fabric ends and her body begins. Between the floating flowers and strategically placed stripes, this is sheer clothing done the right way. The architextuality constructed black gothic inspired looks beautifully contrast the angelic white pieces. The pops of red also add a vivid change to the pale neutrals that dominate the collection as a whole. If I knew I was walking the red carpet soon, I would snatch one of these gowns and insure my spot on the best dressed list.
