The delicate beading and soft silhouettes seen in Elie Saab’s Fall 2011 Couture Collection capture the sheer feminine essence. The gowns and short dresses living in pale blues, whites, mauve’s and pinks seem as if they could float out of the photos. These looks, while seemingly somewhat similar are the items the glamourous living in future decades will wear as beautiful vintage couture.
The sheer looks covered in strategically placed embellishments may be softer than Saab’s Spring 2011 Couture Collection, which was full of vivid reds, large ruffling and prints, but this season’s collection defines haute couture with the intricate detail work and obvious effort put behind its creation. The fitted gowns elongate the body, creating an almost angelic ora around each model wearing the apparently weightless designs. These gowns are bound to be seen sometime soon on red carpets around the world. I know if I could, I would live and sleep in one of the modern day fairytale dresses.
