Model Spotlight on Erin Wasson

How many times have you dreamed of styling for a major designer likeAlexander Wang, you know causal. Well model turned stylist Erin Wasson has one of the most unbelievable stories about how she got the unlikely but amazing experience. She explains, “everybody knows the story,” (but for all of us who don’t know) “I moved into the same building as Alex [Alexander Wang]. He was my downstairs neighbour, we started hanging out and he was just like: ‘Hey, you wanna style?’”

Experiences like this are what make Wasson such an interesting person. She has had an extremely successful modeling career, with appearances on the covers of major fashion magazines in France, Australia, Germany, Spain and the USA, on countless glamorous runways from big names like Chole to Armani and Balenciaga and in Justin Timerlake’s fall William Rast campaign. But it is not just her pretty face that makes her a unique person in the fashion world. She ironically models the latest fashions but admits to not really follow them, “I’ve been dressing the same way my whole life, I don’t think about fashion or trends – I’ve never really been that kind of person. I was a tomboy growing up, so this whole dishevelled shorts and a T-shirt [look] has always been my style. I was never a girlie girl.”

Erin Wasson is the prime example of the fact that the fashion world is a completely different experience for everyone. The key is, as she shows us, is not to try to fit into something you’re not, but make fashion work for you.
