How To Bring Tan into Your Wardrobe

As we all know tan is jumping on the scene as if it’s ‘the new black’ this season (although black will never actually be the ‘old’ anything), but nonetheless camel, beige and sandy tones are popping up in stores across the country. Along with the neutrals popularity as a piece, it is also thriving in monotone outfits, which when done correctly adds a powerful skill to any fashionista’s arsenal.

Mixing pieces of the same colour family can be a slippery slope if you don’t know how to properly coordinate shades and textures, but no worries, learning how to wear tan and mix and match to create a dreamy outfit is just a few tips away. First trick to mixing tans is finding the right combination of tan hues. Similar to blues and reds, tans have warmer and cooler families (meaning they are more towards the orange or green tints). I would recommend pairing different shades within the same hue family to ensure cohesion in your outfit.

The next trick is to add texture. When wearing the same colour on top or bottom, mixing different materials give the outfit textural interest and excitement. Try pairing a suede pant with a silk top, or a cotton crop top with a long pleated silk skirt. Whatever you decide on this front, just find some way to mix up your layers to avoid the unintended jumpsuit look.
