The Sydney photographer Shahram Zadgan is a bit of a mystery, but undoubtedly an unmatchable talent elevating fashion photography to a new artistic peak. His vintage style brings some of the best moments ofRAFW 2011 to a whole new level with overlapping, orange hues and an overall 1970′s feel. Zadgan, who unlike many fashion photographers shot this past RAWF on film, describes the experience as,”natural for me to shoot RAFW in my style. I photographed the week on film using analogue 35mm cameras from the 70s.”
His photos completely capture the passion and excitement behind a runway show, staunchly opposing the typical static photos documenting the latest designer collections. He explains that, “for [him] it was not fulfilling and creative enough to just shoot the event in the same way that [he] previously had and the same way other backstage and pit photographers who document this event.

This year, [he] decided to shoot backstage and runway entirely on film, in [his] own style.” And I can’t deny that his way is my new favorite, with his photo of the four models in the window serving as my new desktop photo. For me, Zadgan stands out from the rest due to his ability to express through his photos the very reason I love the fashion world. He has taken something that has been done countless times, and revamped it to create a new piece of art in his own style, which let’s all agree is in short the cycle of life in the fashion world. Between his fashion portfolio and other extended collections, Shahram Zadgan is the photographer to watch.
