Unique Jewellery from GALA Curios Collection

With roots in the Latin words gala meaning festive, celebratory and curio meaning a rare or unusual object, the collections from Sydney-based jewellery designer GALA Curios offer a distinct design to those looking to diversify their jewellery box. Designer behind the brand Jasmine O’Laughlin uses her pieces as “expressions of an idea, traversingthemes of nature, mortality and the human connection to objects and memories.”The label’s collections combine the beauty of nature with the hard metals to create unique jewellery that emulate the natural elements that surround us daily. A notable trait that differentiates the label is their “signature innovation – coating found materials such as recycled textile, paper & natural flora in fine layers of metal – imbues each piece with the sense of a former ‘life’ and an illusory quality that straddles the divide between real and imagined.” The latest collection, MONO NO AWARE, available in boutiques August 2011, includes some fabulous cuffs, dangle earrings, double finger rings and necklaces that would add a unique twist to any outfit. My favorite are the pieces with the two holding hands. These would be great layered or solo and add just enough whimsey fun.
