It’s that time of year again, where designers’ imaginations really get to run wild for the benefit of our eyes. That’s right it’s Fall Couture season and designer Alexis Mabille’s collection epitomizes what I think of as couture. Between his looks accented with fur, studs and vivid yellow tights we are whisked away to a sophisticated world of charismatic fantasy.
Enter the glamourous gowns with lace detailing and large feather accessories followed by the short but sassy tool accented dresses, all of which without a doubt bring the dramatic theme synonymous with couture. Then there is my favorite look of the collection, cue the tutu dress, and holy fabulous. The craziness of this look is what makes it work, with the bright stockings and gladiator style lace up heels. Would I ever wear this out in public? Unless by some fantastical dream I suddenly turn into Lady Gaga probably not, but that is the beauty behind collections like this. Designers can push the envelope and we can appreciate the looks as fuel for our fashion love.
